Installed SCSI CD-ROM drive does not work due to unterminated SCSI data cable.
Cause:
The cable connecting SCSI devices to the SCSI adapter is not being properly terminated by the last device on the cable.
Solution:
Shut down Windows 95, and turn off the computer. Identify the last device connected to the SCSI cable.
Add a terminator to the last device connected to the SCSI cable, and restart the computer.
WARNING: Electrical shock hazard! Make sure the power is turned off and the external power cables have been disconnected before removing the computer cover.
CAUTION 1: This task should be performed by a qualified computer technician.
CAUTION 2: Observe electrostatic discharge (ESD) considerations. Use a wrist strap or equivalent.
1) Shut down Windows 95, and turn off the computer.
2) Make sure that the device connected to the far end (from the computer) of the external 'SCSI chain' is properly terminated.
NOTE: Refer to the device's manual for instructions on how to terminate the device on the SCSI bus.
3) If there is an internal 'SCSI chain' in the computer do the following:
a) Remove the computer cover.
b) Make sure that the last device connected to the far end of the internal 'SCSI chain' is properly terminated.
NOTE: Refer to the device's manual for instructions on how to terminate the device on the SCSI bus.
4) Refer to the SCSI controller card manual for instructions for terminating the controller itself.
5) Replace the computer cover.
6) Turn on the computer.
